‘Vakuru’ by Tafara & Don Cavelle; Produced by Victor Enlisted

This song is a prayer by a common Zimbabwean to the gods to intervene in the dire situation that Zimbabweans have been faced with for years now. It conveys some of the problems and injustices that Zimbabweans face on the daily, from the plummeting of the Zimbabwean dollar, inflation, unemployment and corruption. Tafara and Don Cavelle express themselves mostly in their mother tongue so that the song is an easy listen to any lay man from their country, so that their message gets across clearly, and the sound of the song is heavily influenced by Zimbabwean traditional music like museve, jit and chimurenga music, which was blended with hip-hop to create a unique African/Zimbabwean sound.
